This year the John Gibson III Scholarship was awarded to two amazing students. Both of which are poised to do great things in the future. The Hammond-Batts Family Reunion is honored to award Kamea Rountree, and Ambriel Hamilton. Congratulations from all of us!

John Gibson III Scholarship Guidelines
The Hammond-Batts Family Reunion Scholarship Fund, renamed the John Gibson Scholarship
Fund in 2008, began several years ago. It was started by Cousin John Gibson, who passed away
in the year 2003. These funds are dedicated to descendants of the family who wanted to
continue after high school (4-year, Junior College, or Trade school). They wanted to embrace
knowledge and aspire to solve problems and become worthy citizens in society.
To carry out this mission, the elders provide annual donations during the Family Reunion to
sustain the scholarship fund. Any offspring from a Hammond-Batts descendant is eligible to
apply for the scholarship. However, to receive the award all requirements of the application
must be met.
They are:
* Complete all sections on the application. (Include a picture of yourself)
* Attend an accredited college or university (two- or four-year institution or technical)
* Scholarships will be awarded to all eligible applicants (If money is available)
* The amount for the scholarship depends on the number of applicants and the money
available.
* The award amount will not exceed $500.00 dollars per year for 1st year, or $250.00 2nd
year, when funds are available.}.
* A former recipient may request awards annually, if needed and additional funds are
available.
* When applying for an original or renewal scholarship, the application form must be
completed, received, and approved by June to be awarded Annual reunion.
* Send the completed application to the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee
* Applications received after June, will not be considered until the Family Reunion the following year.

Mid-term Grades must be attached to the application, showing passing grades in all subjects. Extenuating circumstances may be considered. The scholarships will be awarded during the family reunion held annually in July.
Applications may be requested from any Hammond-Batts family reunion committee member.
